【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversastandardizedmethodtodeterminetheperformanceofexcessflowvalves(EFVs)designedtolimitfloworstopflowinthermoplasticnaturalgasservicelines.Alltestsareintendedtobeperformedusingairasthetestfluid.Unlessotherwisestated,allflowratesarereportedinstandardcubicfeetperhourof0.6relativedensitynaturalgas.ThetestmethodrecognizestwotypesofEFV.Onetype,anexcessflowvalve-bypass(EFVB),allowsasmallamountofgastobleedthrough(bypass)afterithastripped,usuallyasameansofautomaticallyresettingthedevice.Thesecondtype,anexcessflowvalve-nonbypass(EFVNB),isintendedtotripshutforminganessentiallygastightseal.Theperformancecharacteristicscoveredinthistestmethodincludeflowattrippoint,pressuredropacrosstheEFV,bypassflowrateoftheEFVBorleakratethroughtheEFVNBaftertrip,andverificationthattheEFVcanbereset.Gasdistributionsystemsmaycontaincondensatesandparticulatessuchasorganicmatter,sand,dirt,andironcompounds.FieldexperiencehasshownthattheoperatingcharacteristicsofsomeEFVsmaybeaffectedbyaccumulationsofthesematerials.ThetestsofSectionweredevelopedtoprovideasimple,inexpensive,reproducibletestthatquantifiestheeffect,ifany,ofauniformcoatingofkeroseneandofkerosenecontaminatedwithaspecifiedamountofferricoxidepowderonanEFV'soperatingcharacteristics.Excessflowvalvescoveredbythistestmethodwillnormallyhavethefollowingcharacteristics:apressureratingofupto125psig(0.86MPa);atripflowofbetween200and2500ft/h(5.66and70.8m/h)at10psig(0.07MPa);aminimumtemperatureratingof0F(-18C),andamaximumtemperatureratingof100F(38C).TheEFVscoveredbythistestmethodshallbeconstructedtofitpipingsystemsnosmallerthan1/2CTSandnolargerthan11/4IPS,includingbothpipeandtubingsizes.Testswillbeperformedat6710F(19.45.5C).Alternativeoptionaltesttemperaturesare10010F(37.75.5C)and010F(-185.5C).Allflowratesmustbecorrectedtostandardconditions.ThistestmethodwaswrittenforEFVsinstalledinthermoplasticpipingsystems.However,itisexpectedthatthetestmethodmayalsobeusedforsimilardevicesinotherpipingsystems.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautions,seeSection.
